"Sonic 3: A Bold Move Could Make It the Franchise's Best Yet"
One of the most eagerly awaited films of the year is Sonic the Hedgehog 3, and if it has the guts to make even one contentious choice, I will respect it even more. Sonic 3 appears to be the franchise’s largest film to date following two successful releases, especially after the teaser offered tons of interesting new details. Sonic 3 revealed that Jim Carrey would be playing Dr. Robotnik again, along with an intriguing plot. I’m excited to see Keanu Reeves play Shadow the Hedgehog.
"Will Sonic 3 Dare to Explore a Darker, Bolder Path with Shadow?"
Shadow’s Akira slide is the kind of amazing scene that shows off how fashionable and audacious the film will be, but I’m interested to see how daring it will go. Though Sonic is a generally jovial and family-oriented series, it would be intriguing to see Sonic 3 take some chances. Although Shadow’s appearance clearly implies that there may be some disturbing scenes to come, the third installment offers the ideal chance to push the envelope. Thus, the film that would perform the unimaginable, examining a single, sinister plot, would get my admiration and intensify the tension.
Sonic 3: Death Note Tom Would Significantly Increase The Franchise's Stakes
Tom's Death Could Make Sonic 3 the Most Impactful Movie in the Franchise
It’s evident from Dr. Robotnik’s comeback in Sonic 3 that characters in the series aren’t always written off, but Tom’s death would significantly increase the stakes. Tom Wachowski’s contribution to the Sonic film series has been invaluable, providing the main characters with a human ally who sincerely aspires to be a good police officer. Although his humor and tone are ideal for the film series, it would be far more devastating if he passed away in Sonic 3, raising the stakes and giving the game’s climactic confrontation a more intimate feel.
Having the hedgehog be Tom’s killer would give Sonic a more sinister, vindictive side to his often carefree personality, especially since the film seems to be going all out with Shadow as its nemesis. Tom’s passing would be the greatest way to hint at the sinister side of Shadow while also emphasizing how much I believe it would be fantastic if Sonic the Hedgehog 3 set up a sinister twist for its protagonist. It would feel like the villain was even more formidable and evil than Dr. Robotnik, which is precisely the kind of danger I want to see.
Sonic 3 Is Already Much Darker Than Sonic The Hedgehog 1 & 2
Shadow's Introduction & Backstory Will Completely Shift The Tone Compared To The Previous Films
It’s obvious from the teaser alone that Sonic the Hedgehog 3 will be far darker than the first two games. Even though Dr. Robotnik was a formidable foe, his silly nature contributed to the comedic aspects of the movies, and his schemes didn’t appear nearly as destructive as Shadow’s. Shadow’s ability to harness chaos suggests he’ll be strong in Sonic 3, and his quest for vengeance predicts a more somber tone throughout. The general plot of the project appears to be much more mature than that of Sonic the Hedgehog 1 and 2, even if it will still contain many jokes and goofy moments.
Early indications suggest that Shadow's backstory will stay true to his previous character portrayals
The saddest origin tale in the entire series is also Shadow’s, since it features a child’s murder, which turns the antagonist into a malevolent figure. The early indications suggest that Shadow’s past is true to earlier renditions of the character, setting up a highly gloomy tone, even though there is no certainty Sonic 3 adheres to this precise tale. Sonic the Hedgehog’s trademark comedy will be difficult to combine with Maria and Shadow’s melancholy plot, but the film series has given me a lot of reasons to be optimistic about its ability to handle this significant change.
Sonic 3 Doesn’t Really Need To Kill Off Tom To Be More Serious
The trailer confirms that Sonic 3 will feature a more serious plot, regardless of what happens to Tom
Even though taking off Tom would make a huge statement about the gloomy tone of the movie, it may still be taken seriously without this particular scene. The plot will always be darker with Shadow, but it doesn’t have to be entirely depressing. Sonic 3 should still be a mainly lighthearted movie with flashes of humor despite the introduction of a new antagonist, but with greater stakes. Even while I’m excited about Shadow’s sinister schemes, I doubt that Sonic fans will go to the movies to witness a tragedy, and removing well-known characters runs the risk of making the audience overly sentimental.
The franchise will continue to attract a growing and more sophisticated audience, but for now, Sonic the Hedgehog is primarily geared toward younger audiences, and Maria’s death is already bordering on being too much. Though I’m still not sure that it’s totally required for this kind of franchise, I would admire Sonic 3 if it murdered Tom and demonstrated that it is willing to go all out with Shadow’s story. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 will be as serious and captivating as it needs to be, if it can provide an intimidating Shadow and a fascinating tale for the protagonists.
